The Wendigo in Popular Culture

There are many references to the Wendigo in pop culture, for example there is an episode of Superantural where the main charachters are forced to deal with a wendigo. The way the wendigo is portrayed in this show is a lot like how it was portrayed in the book, a man who turned to cannibalism. Though the way in which the wendigo was destroyed was different from the book. In the supernatural show they simply shot it and it died.

Another pop culture reference of the wendigo is when it makes an appearance in the TV show Charmed. In this episode in charmed the Wendigo is more like a werewolf than what is portrayed in the round house. In this episode of Charmed one of the main charachters is bitten by a Wendigo and the other chrachters must kill the wendigo or the one who has beeen bitten will turn into a wendigo themselves.

This is a trailer for Wendigo, starring Patricia Clarkson, Jake per Sullivan, and Jake Weber. This movie, while not entirely accurate in regards to the Wendigo Legend, shows how widespread the legend has become as well as how it is being adapted for non native American peoples.
